This month, we will explore “Dare to Lead” by Brené Brown, a powerful and practical guide to courageous leadership. Through research based insights and real-world examples, Brown challenges us to rethink leadership as a practice rooted in vulnerability, trust, empathy, and courage.
The HBA LA Chapter Book Club is designed as a collaborative experience where healthcare professionals come together to exchange perspectives, learn from one another, and strengthen their leadership capabilities. Rather than focusing solely on the book itself, we will use its concepts as a catalyst for meaningful discussion and practical application in our professional and personal lives.
During this interactive session, participants will reflect on key themes from Dare to Lead, including building trust, navigating difficult conversations, embracing vulnerability as a leadership strength, and creating cultures of courage and belonging. Through guided discussion and shared experiences, we will explore how these principles can be applied in healthcare organizations and everyday leadership situations.
As with our inaugural session, this book club continues to serve as a shared leadership platform. Participants are encouraged to contribute their perspectives, facilitate future discussions, and help shape the direction of the group. Together, we are building a community where leadership is developed through dialogue, curiosity, and collective growth.
This initiative remains intentionally welcoming, practical, and leadership-focused—a space where a variety in viewpoints are encouraged, ideas are explored openly, and professional development is supported through community.
